Hi everyone,

I've been talking about different inks with my design team a lot lately and thought it would be good to open this one up to the forum too. What inks do you use when you are planning on coloring in images with markers? I've found that some inks work better than others as far as the "bleed" factor goes...

I've been experimenting with Ranger Distress inks this week and am pretty happy with the results. Anyone else?

My ultimate favourite has to be my SU Basic Black but the one I carry around with me to friends houses is my Brilliance Graphite black dew drop...no bleeding at all!

Can I add to this?  Can I ask what Markers people use to colour in their images?  And how you get them to not have the lines...I am having problems with that lately   I would like it more blended.  My favourite way of colouring in has to be watercolour pencils but sometimes I want more of a POP of colour.  I just wish I could get my markers to blend better.

Thanks   Zee

I have been using Bic Mark It Markers (don't laugh:-) ) but they have worked out well for me.  I started collecting the Copic's but only have a few thus far and I have been having a problem finding ink that won't bleed. I've heard the brillance ink works well, do you know if you have to heat set first?  I tried both SU Classic and Craft and it didn't work for me.

The SU inks don't work as well for me either when using Copics. The Ranger inks are the first inks that I feel really hold the ink in.

I stamp with SU basic black, set it aside while I finish cutting out the rest of my project then color with SU markers and they work well, no bleed. You just have to let the ink dry completely before coloring. If you use the paintbrush end of the marker and lay it sideways so you're getting the most coverage you usually won't get lines. Try it and see if it works for you. You can always color with an aqua painter filled with water and SU inks it the markers are still streaking, you get a watercolor effect but still get strong color from straight ink.
