Directions:
JOURNAL
Paint front and back of Zutter Craft Covers with white acrylic paint. Once the covers have dried completely, sand the edges and top with a coarse sanding block. Then paint the covers (inside and out) with Tim Holtz Scattered Straw crackle paint and let try overnight.
Using a Shabby Shutters distress ink pad, wipe ink across both covers, working the ink into the cracks of the crackle paint. The acrylic paint acts as a resist to the distress ink, and where the finish was sanded lightly, the paint picks up a very light color of the distress ink. Then sponge the edges of the covers with Vintage Photo distress ink.
The inside pages of the journal are from a Top Flight 6"x9" 120 Sheet Ruled Writing Tablet. Trim the pages down to 4-3/4"x7-1/4" to fit inside the journal.
To assemble the journal, punch the covers and pages with a Zutter Bind-it-All. Using a 3/4" O wire, assemble the journal in the appropriate order, and then fasten with the Bind-it-All.
STAMPED IMAGE PANEL
Ink wildflower stamp with Peeled Paint and Fired Brick distress ink, mist with water, and then stamp three consecutive times on a panel made from 120 lb. Canson watercolor paper. While the ink is still wet, use a wet paintbrush to blend the distress inks.
Once the image is dry, distress edges with scissors and then sponge with Old Paper distress ink.
Cut out background panels out of patterned paper (BasicGrey Infuse). Distress edges and lightly sponge with distress ink. Sew panels together. Affix the image panel to the front of the journal.
Stamp the sentiment in distress ink on watercolor paper and punch out with a large oval punch. Sponge edges with distress ink and then frame with hardware. Attach to the panel with a brad on the right and ribbon on the left that wraps around the panel and is taped to the back. Attach an additional piece of hardware to the top right corner and ribbon tie off in bows.
