Q: Are your cling stamps clear (polymer) stamps?
A: No. Cling stamps are traditional, deeply etched red rubber stamps backed with a static cling film. They come trimmed out and ready to mount on to an acrylic block...no assembly required!
Q: What is static cling film?
A. The best way to describe static cling (or vinyl) film is that it is similar to the material used to make window decals (the clear decals that are used to remind you when to get your oil changed again, etc.) The cling film is glued to the cushion which is then glued to the rubber stamp. Cling film easily sticks to acrylic blocks and can be mounted and remounted unlimited times. Note: It's important not to peel off the clear cling film from your stamps! To begin using your cling stamps, mount a stamp on to a clear acrylic block and press firmly in the center. Your stamp is now ready for inking!
Q: Do cling stamps loose their "cling?"
A: Cling stamps do not stop sticking to the block. However, the cling film and your mounting block do need to be kept clean in order for your stamps to continue to stick properly. Keep your stamps clean from any dirt and surface oils. If you find your cling stamps are not sticking to the block as they once did, clean your block! (Give your block a nice Windex-job!) It's usually the block that is dirty rather than the cling stamp. Clean your block and you stamps will stick like a charm!
Q: Are your sets packaged in typical jewel (CD) cases?
A. All our Little Bits sets come in jewel cases, but they are not typical cd cases. Our cases are the same size as a standard jewel case for easy storage, but they do not have the "hole" where the cd tray usually fits so you have more room inside the case to store your stamps. We sell our Simply Storage cases for extra stamp storage.
Q: Should I store my stamps on the plastic sheet they come packaged on inside the jewel case, or should I use the inside of the jewel case for storage instead?
A: The plastic sheet the stamps come on was meant to be a packaging solution...we wanted our stamps facing out so you could see them through the back of the case (important for retail displays!) We intended the sheet to be discarded and the case used once you started using your stamps, but you are welcome to keep them on the sheet too! A lot of people like using the plastic sheet--in fact, some people have even been known to use the sheet and discard the case!
A problem you may encounter if you keep the sheet in the case is that it adds extra thickness, and your case may not close well. If you are encountering this problem, try using the inside of the case for your stamps instead and discard the sheet.
Q: How do you clean your cling stamps?
A: To clean your stamps, gently wipe the cling film with a damp paper towel and let dry. You may also use water mixed with a small amount of dish liquid or stamp cleaner. Do not submerge the stamps in water. Make sure the mounting block you are using is clean as well (it can be cleaned using the same method.)
More care and usage instructions can be found inside the cover booklets in our Little Bits stamp sets.
